This is why I believe in myself.

This I Believe.

One day I decided to go to college. I was thinking about it for the past ten years and couldn’t decide how  to make the first step.  Finally, seven years ago, I  moved so close to Moraine Valley Community College  that I did not hesitate anymore. I was wondering how will I handle work, school and family obligations. I was  thinking how long will I  survive in this busy environment. Soon, I started taking more and more  classes and  decided to take online  writing class, Composition 102. I was prepared to do a lot of writing and researching but nothing was so powerful like the projects that I had to complete.  This was a life changing class, because I stopped thinking about myself  and opened my eyes to the challenges of the people around me.

I believe life is not about ourselves. It’s about taking the risk and making the change. My fear and dilemmas were always ahead of me. I was thinking how can I change the world if there is only one of me? Fortunately, my dilemmas were challenged. I could see one person making a change for the entire community and the world outside our country. This was a very powerful moment because I got to believe in myself and others who  live to help others. When I learned  about “Share Your Soles , The greater Chicago Food Depository” I knew  that there is one person behind  it who decided to make a change and shared with  others who are less fortunate. I  was able to realize in my action service that I have the enormous power to change my community and  help others who already are doing a great service. I am not a great leader, I don’t have those skills yet to lead. However, I can proudly say that I  am a great follower.  I can follow those who do good for others and help them  in their mission. I   realized that each of us has the enormous power to change this world  and make it a  better place  to live. I learned to   believe in myself  and that  gives me motivation to help others.

The end of my journey-conclusion

Today, my writing experience is about to end. But the moments of learning about myself and people affected by poverty, hunger, obesity will stay with me forever. I cherish the time when I was able to reflect on my life and thank God that I have everything that I need. I also became more comfortable

Introduction to my journey

This semester, I decided to take one of the writing classes: Composition II. I left this class for last, because I was not confident enough that I can handle so much writing and researching. During  the first couple of weeks I learned how to  manage my time so I could spend time with my children

My “Share Your Soles” service

My “Share Your Soles “ service.  This is a story about people helping people. Regardless where we live, how much money we have there are people around us who need our  help. Some of them  live  in our communities, others live in different countries. Because of the economy around the globe is not even some

Help to end hunger.

The trip to  the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) was  a great experience for  me.  First of all, I have never volunteered for  humanitarian agency and never  had a  time to care for others  than my family relatives.  This project  opened my eyes to see that there are plenty  of people in a community  that

School junk food ban

Dear Editor, I am deeply concerned that our children eat too much processed food in school cafeterias loaded with fat, sugar and artificial additives. It is terrible to think that there are all these kids suffering from obesity, asthma and cancer as the consequence of eating highly processed food. Children do not have control over

Children’s health at risk.

Children’s health at risk. The primary reason of my concern is health of our children.  Some of them  at the age of 5 years old already suffer from obesity, asthma and all kinds of  allergies. There  is also a greater number of children who develop cancer in childhood.  My concern is that obesity and unhealthy

In the name of the beautiful life

Die?Kill?Live? I would never ask myself these questions if not the project from this class. I believe it is important to stop and focus on ones life to  give a meaning to it. Some people look for the meaning of their life throughout lifetime. Others live happily from day to day without debating about  their future
