Chapter five is AWESOME! I for one hate when someone who knows nothing about a particular topic goes and googles’ it and are now sudden masters of the subject. I do use google, but i certainly dont let it be the end all to a question i have, It’s a wonderful thing to use as a starting point, but you have to remember that practically anyone can write something, put a few words as keywords for someone to find when they search, and that is that. But you are doing yourself a huge disservice if you stop your research there. The chapter also gives out some really good ideas on where you might look for information.
The humorous examples used in the beginning of this chapter really drew me in and i found myself very curious as to what the point of these anecdotes were. I immiediately thought of A Christmas Story when i read about the flagpole and sticking your tongue to it. Too funny!
I also thought it made a great point that many people get their information through word of mouth. This can be very dangerous, especially to youths who are known for just taking what their peers say at face value. But youths are not the only ones who are guilty of this. To keep yourself truly informed you definitely have to cross reference your sources. And ask yourself what does this person or group gain by telling you the data that they are speaking of. Your best interest is not what many info sources have in mind. So I believe that this chapter brings up some really wonderful points that can be used throughout your life on any range of topics.

Hi Andrew,
I agree this chapter really makes you think about how and where you are getting your information from. I do admit im a huge fan of googling something I am not sure about. I look for a quick-fix answer to my question, and too often trust the first website that pops up under the search. From now on, I think I am going to really try to research where my sources are getting their information from, instead of blindly trusting what google comes up with!
